What can Lymph Drainage help?

Lymphoedema

Most people have experienced feet that won't fit back into shoes after a long plane trip, legs that are swollen after a daylong shopping spree, rings that you can't get off your fingers or an arm that swells from an insect bite or sunburn. Yes, these people too need lymph drainage therapy.

Just imagine what it would be like to have an arm or leg swollen to twice, three times or even five times its normal size all the time. This is a medical condition called lymphoedema - the abnormal swelling of a body part, usually an arm or a leg, resulting from the accumulation of the natural body fluid called lymph.

Carmel has studied Lymph Drainage Therapy with both Lymphatic Drainage International Training College (Sydney/London) and Professor Leduc's Lymphoedema Management School (Brussels/London). Comprehensive training was gained in Leduc's general technique itself and the treatment and management of lymphoedema including Multilayer Compression Bandaging and the use of Compression Garments were the main focus of Carmel's training.

What is Erysipelas (Cellulitis)?

Erysipelas, an acute inflammatory episode, is a streptococci infection that appears on the skin. This infection travels quickly through the lymphatic system and symptoms can increase in severity within hours. Seek medical advice immediately if you consider you might have contracted Erysipelas.
