CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY: REDISCOVER YOUR BLUEPRINT FOR HEALTH

“…the smallest fragment in the system is vital to the whole and plays a key role in maintaining balance”.

Candice Marro- The Cranial Wave-Spring/Summer 2003.

WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY?

It is a gentle yet powerful hands on therapy that supports the body’s natural tendency to find health and optimum balance. It is based on a number of findings that were highlighted by osteopaths more than 100 years ago. These findings show that, in health, all living tissues express a subtle rhythmic motion which has been called Primary Respiration. This motion is palpable to the hands of a trained therapist.

Craniosacral Therapy is a whole body approach.
One of its main tenets is that every part of your body functions in relationship to the whole. During treatment, Craniosacral therapists may refer to what is called the ”core link” (includes the brain and spinal cord and the longitudinal fluctuation of the Cerebrospinal fluid) between your cranium and your sacrum but will more than often work with all your body’s systems and tissues. In addition, Craniosacral Therapy acknowledges the connections between body and mind and encourages the expression of your body intelligence.

HOW DOES CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY WORK?

Ventricular System

The full and balanced expression of Primary Respiration is fundamental to good health. However, factors such as accidents, injuries, stresses, toxicity or emotional problems may affect the expression of Primary Respiration in the body. When this subtle motion gets compromised it can lead to a wide range of health problems. In treatment, the therapist identifies any areas of stress or strain and encourages a step-by-step process in which layers of stress and trauma are resolved, so allowing more of our natural health to shine through.

During a treatment session, you will lie fully clothed on a treatment table and experience the light touch of the therapist’s hands. You may feel a deep sense of relaxation and possibly become aware of heat, tingling, pulsations or other sensations. As you nervous system slows down, your body will start to reveal its needs and priorities of treatment. Your therapist identifies this subtle pattern and encourages its resolution. Treatments last for 50 minutes. A case history is taken during the first consultation and sessions may include a sensitive discussion about your condition and treatment approach.

CAN CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY HELP ME?

Craniosacral Therapy is suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly.
Craniosacral Therapy is beneficial and effective for all kind of conditions and lifestyle. It not only supports your way back to health but can also promote your search for an enhanced health, a better flowing vitality, rising energy levels and reliable core resources.

Craniosacral Therapy for Children
Children respond extremely well to CST. They usually appreciate this non invasive approach that respects their integrity and sensitivity whilst the hands holds provide a safe support for their process to unfold. Children’s systems are very responsive and, given the right conditions, able to let go of various stress symptoms in a relatively short time as they hold less history than at adult age.
Candice works with children from newborn to early teenagers whose symptoms range from minor stresses (sleeping difficulties, digestive problems, dental problems, lack of concentration at school, etc) to more serious ones such as autism, epilepsy, shock or trauma, abuse, falls, bereavement, eczema, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity.
CST for children can also be used in acute conditions and whenever the immune system needs encouragement.

Craniosacral Therapy for adult life: be addicted to Health!
I believe that Craniosacral Therapy or other alternative therapies should not only be considered as an occasional treat or when our health is threatened. Adult life is one of the potentially most stressful periods of our journey. We are constantly exposed to demands, responsibilities, obligations, challenges, relationships, environmental pollution, toxicity and other factors that have a huge impact on our health and sanity! Overtime, our body’s capacity to cope with stress is undermined and signs that we need to slow down start to appear. Whether you are a full time mother or a business driven person, Craniosacral Therapy can help you to revert the addiction to stress and further prevent warning signs to become persistent symptoms. If you are going through a particularly stressful time, a weekly or fortnightly 30 to 50 minutes session is all that it takes to help reducing your stress level and encourage your body to cope. Once a better balance is restored, your body will naturally seek to achieve optimum health.
